Further to the public exhibition held in November 2019, the scheme has evolved as a result of feedback received during the exhibition and further discussions with officers at Perth & Kinross Council planning department.

The proposed hotel is pre-let to Whitbread Group Plc for their Premier Inn hotel brand. If the planning application is successful it is hoped that construction will commence before the end of 2020 and the hotel will be open for trade in early 2022.

John Rumsey of Riverstone commented “This is an exciting project for Pitlochry, particularly given the site has laid dormant for several years due to the lack of any supermarket operator for the current consented scheme. The hotel and restaurant will help support the growing tourism and visitor economy in Perthshire as well as providing 35 permanent full time equivalent jobs.”

John Rumsey further commented “The overriding feedback that we received from the public exhibition was of support for the proposed hotel and I would encourage those members of the public that remain supportive of our application to make this known to Perth & Kinross Council through the online planning portal”.

Pitlochry is a well known tourist destination just south of the Cairngorms. The site currently benefits from having planning consent for a supermarket but Riverstone Developments are working up plans for a mixed use redevelopment of the site and are aiming to submit a planning application in the summer of 2019.
